Father Timothy Gahan Division

Join the division

Irish Catholic men in Spartanburg, gathered in Friendship, Unity, and Christian Charity. Come to a meeting, or start an application.

Two paths

Who can join

Regular membership is for Irish Catholic men. Associate membership is open, through a sponsor, to men who stand with the Order.

Regular membership

Irish by birth or descent, a practicing Catholic man of at least sixteen, and a citizen of the United States.

  • Division meetings, Mass, and the works of charity
  • The St. Patrick’s Day parade and Irish life in the Upstate
  • Fellowship with AOH brothers, as our fathers did

Applicants are notified of induction dates for the Shamrock Degree.

Associate membership

Men who do not qualify for regular membership, and who have shown good will toward the Order, may seek associate membership through a sponsor among the regular members.

Associate members share the social life of the division — the gatherings, the pint, and the welcome at McGivney Hall.

How to join

Application and dues

Complete the national application. Officers will follow up with dates for induction.

  2. 2. Dues

Dues are $50 a year and federal income tax deductible. A paper application should include the current year’s dues plus a $2 initiation fee.

  3. 3. Come along

Sit with the brothers at a monthly meeting. Questions may go to president@aohgreenvillesc.org.

Transfers

Brothers in good standing may transfer into the Father Timothy Gahan Division with a National Form 32 Transfer Card. Division officer signatures (President and Financial Secretary) confirm that all division commitments have been met and dues are current. Spartanburg has no County Board, so county signatures are not required.

  1. 1. Complete Form 32

Download the transfer card below, or obtain one from the member’s current division, and have it signed by the President and Financial Secretary.

  2. 2. Send the card

The current division secretary submits the transfer card to the division the brother is applying to. Admission depends on a majority vote of the receiving division; otherwise membership remains with the original division.

  3. 3. National roster

If accepted, the Financial Secretary or President sends a copy of the valid transfer card to the National Secretary and adds the brother’s name and information to the National Roster for the new division.

  4. 4. New card issued

The National Secretary issues a new card to the receiving division and removes the member from the old division.

Brothers transferring into Spartanburg, or leaving for another division, may write president@aohgreenvillesc.org. We will help with Form 32 and the vote of the division.

For the ladies

Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians

Women seeking the same camaraderie and service may join the LAOH. Requirements are comparable; being the wife or mother of an AOH member, or the mother of a LAOH member, will suffice in place of Irish descent. Nearby divisions meet in Beaufort, Charleston, and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and in Augusta, Georgia.
